Electronic Control Module (Engine) - Remove and Install - Secondary

Usage:

Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


Note: If the electronic control module (ECM) is being replaced, download the personality module before you remove the ECM. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Replacing the ECM".

  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal at the battery.

  2. Disconnect harness assemblies (2) from primary electronic control module (1). Move harness assemblies (2) out of the way.

  3. Disconnect harness assemblies (4) from secondary electronic control module (3). Move harness assemblies (4) out of the way.

  4. Disconnect ground strap (5) from secondary electronic control module (3).

  5. Remove bolts (6) and secondary electronic control module (3).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install secondary electronic control module (3) and bolts (6). Tighten bolts (6) to a torque of 2.50 ± 0.25 N·m (22 ± 2 lb in).

  2. Connect ground strap (5) to secondary electronic control module (3).

  3. Reposition harness assemblies (4). Connect harness assemblies (4) to secondary electronic control module (3).

  4. Reposition harness assemblies (2). Connect harness assemblies (2) to primary electronic control module (1).

  5. Connect the negative battery terminal at the battery.
