Shifting Automated Manual Transmissions{1901} Caterpillar

Shifting Automated Manual Transmissions{1901}

Usage:

C13 LEE
Engine:
C13 (S/N: LEE1-UP)
C15 (S/N: SDP1-UP)

Introduction

The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

Programmable parameters for the cooling fan are used to determine the correct amount of load that is carried by the engine when the cooling fan is in operation. The programmable parameters for the cooling fan are new for the model year 2007 engines. The programmable parameters are critical for proper operation of the automated manual transmission. Correct programming is dependent on the configuration of the chassis. The OEM sets the correct parameters. Check Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) for the personality module release date. When engines that are built with June 2007 and earlier software are programmed, the parameters for the fan may be changed to the incorrect values.

Solution

Use Cat ET in order to verify the parameters for the diameter of the cooling fan, the number of cooling fan blades and the ratio for the fan pulley. The new parameters must match the parameters from the OEM. The information is available from the OEM or from the plate for the cooling fan.
