The following Machine Security System (MSS) parameters can be configured using the Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat ET) Service Tool:

  • Advanced MSS Installation Status

  • Operator Identification Enable Status

  • Operator Management Passcode Enable Status

  • Operator Management Bluetooth Enable Status

  • Security System Grace Time Period

Note: A key cycle is required after configuring these parameters for the changes to take effect.

Note: Master level access or factory passwords are required.

Advanced MSS Installation Status

If this parameter is set to "Not Installed", the MSS is disabled. The security system is installed by changing the parameter value to "Installed" and obtaining factory passwords. To uninstall the security system, refer to the Testing and Adjusting, "Machine Security System - Uninstall" section in this manual.

Operator Identification Enable Status

If the MSS is installed, this parameter must remain enabled. If the MSS is not installed, then setting this parameter to "Enabled" will turn on the Operator ID feature without security.

Operator Management Passcode Enable Status

This parameter will enable or disable the passcode input for the MSS. When this value is set to "Disabled", the passcode interface from the machine display will not be available.

Operator Management Bluetooth Enable Status

This parameter will enable or disable the Bluetooth input for the MSS. When this value is set to "Disabled", the Cat Bluetooth key fob and Cat App: Fleet management mobile application cannot be used.

Note: If the parameters for passcode and Bluetooth are both disabled, then an operator cannot be authenticated. If the MSS is armed, the operator will not be able to start the machine.

Security System Grace Time Period

This parameter sets the duration of the grace period for the MSS. After a machine has been started successfully, the operator will have the amount of time specified by this parameter after the machine is turned off before the MSS is automatically armed. During the grace period an operator can start the machine without a Bluetooth key ID or passcode. When the grace period expires, the MSS will rearm automatically.

Note: Master access level or factory passwords are required to configure this parameter.
