Announcing a Serviceability Update for Track Roller Frames for Certain D8N and D8R Track-Type Tractors {4151} Caterpillar

D8N (S/N: 9TC1-UP; 1XJ1-UP; 5TJ1-UP; 7TK1-UP)

D8R (S/N: 7XM1-UP; 9EM1-UP)

D8R Series II (S/N: AKA1-UP; 6YZ1-UP)

Serviceability options of the track roller frame are revised on the machines listed above.

The 310-2889 Rear Frame As (LH) is a direct replacement for the 175-3633 Roller Frame. The new 310-2888 Rear Frame As (RH) is a direct replacement for the former 175-3632 Roller Frame.

The 310-2854 Front Frame As is a direct replacement for the 171-8715 Front Frame As. Note that the 171-8715 Front Frame As, and all of the recoil components in the assembly, must also be replaced by the 310-2854 Front Frame As. The 171-8715 Front Frame As is not compatible with the updated roller frames.

Note: Pivot shaft and e-bar dimensions have not changed, so the complete roller frames are a direct fit.

Identifying features of the updated roller frames:

• The filler neck (A) is a triangular shape with a three bolt pattern cover.

• The lift link (B) is positioned towards the rear of the front track roller frame.

• The new frame (C) has the four mounting posts for the carrier roller in the casting.

• The location of the keys (D) is now at the front of the lift link instead of the rear.

• The overall length of the tube measures 1506.0 mm (59.29 inch) from the forward end of the shaft to the center of the rear idler mount bore.
