G3408C and G3412C Engines Caterpillar

Safety Messages

Usage:

G3408C 3WR
There may be several specific safety messages on your engine. The exact location and a description of the messages are reviewed in this section. Please become familiar with all of the messages.

Ensure that all of the messages are legible. Clean the messages or replace the messages if the words cannot be read or if the illustrations are not visible. Use a cloth, water, and soap for cleaning the messages. Do not use solvents, gasoline, or other harsh chemicals. Solvents, gasoline, or harsh chemicals could loosen the adhesive that secures the messages. The messages that are loosened could drop off of the engine.

Replace any message that is damaged or missing. If a message is attached to a part of the engine that is replaced, install a new message on the replacement part. Your Caterpillar dealer can provide new messages.

Do not operate or work on the engine unless the instruction and warnings in the Operation and Maintenance Manual are understood. Failure to follow the instructions or failure to heed the warnings could result in injury or death. Proper care is your responsibility.

Note: Your engine will have "Type 1" safety messages or "Type 2" safety messages.
