Introduction

This Special Instruction contains the procedures needed to update transmission software for certain 986H Wheel Loaders. Do not perform any of the procedures in this document until completely reading and understanding this publication.

Transmission Fill Calibration Procedure

After downloading the required software from Table 1, begin following the calibration procedure.

  1. Select Service - > Calibrations

  1. Select"Transmission Fill Calibration" and press the "Start" button.

  1. Set the preconditions as per the instructions and press the "Next" button to start calibration procedure.

    Calibrating Clutch # 1

  1. When conditions required to start calibration procedure are satisfied, required condition check box will display RED tick mark, and auto calibration procedure will start.

  1. After clutch 1 is successfully calibrated, calibration procedure automatically starts with clutch 2.

  1. After clutch 2 is successfully calibrated, calibration procedure automatically starts with clutch 3.

  1. After clutch 3 is successfully calibrated, calibration procedure automatically starts with clutch 4.

  1. After clutch 4 is successfully calibrated, calibration procedure automatically starts with clutch 5.

  1. After clutch 5 is successfully calibrated, calibration procedure automatically starts with clutch 6.

    Case 1: Successful calibration

  1. If all the clutches are calibrated successfully, calibration success massage will be displayed. Acknowledge by clicking "Finish" button.

    Case 2: Calibration done with calibration limit warning

    (1) (Action to be taken) Acknowledge the Error Message

    (2) At limit warning acknowledgment

  1. If the calibration is completed, but has warnings, the figure (1) message will be displayed. Acknowledge by clicking "More" button. Clutch (es) getting calibrated at limit will be displayed in figure (2) message. Click "Ok" button to acknowledge. No Further action is required, machine is OK to operate.

    Case 3: Calibration failed

    (3) (Action to be taken) Refer troubleshooting guide for error code number and how to fix error (s).

    (4) Error Message

  1. If calibration fails, figure (3) message will be displayed. Acknowledge by clicking "More" button. Further action required, refer to troubleshooting guide for error code number and how to fix error (s).
