Engine Oil Cooler - Install

Installation Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

  1. Ensure that adapter (3) of the engine oil cooler is clean and free from damage. Clean the mating surfaces of the cylinder block.

  2. Position a new joint (5) (not shown) onto adapter (3). Install bolts (4) to the adapter.

  3. Install adapter (3) to the cylinder block. Tighten bolts (4) finger tight.

    Note: The bolts are different lengths. Ensure that the different bolts are installed in the correct location. Ensure that any brackets that are secured by the bolts are installed in the correct location.

  4. Tighten bolts (4) to a torque of 22 N·m (16 lb ft). Tighten the bolts in the sequence that is shown in Illustration 3.

  5. Install a new sealing washer (6) to banjo bolt (1).

  6. Install new O-ring seal (7) and O-ring seal (8) to oil cooler body (2).

  7. Install banjo bolt (3) to oil cooler body (4).

  8. Install the assembly of oil cooler body (2) to the adapter (3). Align the Connection (A) (not shown) with hose (9) and tighten hose clamps securely. Tighten the banjo bolt (1) to a torque of 57 N·m (42 lb ft).

  9. Connect the hose to Connections (B) to the assembly of oil cooler (2) and tighten hose clamp securely.

  10. Fill the cooling system to the correct level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change" for the correct procedure.

  11. Fill the engine oil pan to the correct level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil Filter and Change" for the correct procedure.

  12. If necessary, Install the electric starting motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Electric Starting Motor - Remove and Install".
