Electric Starting Motor - Remove and Install
Removal Procedure
Start By:
- Remove the bottom guard.

Personal injury can result from failure to disconnect the battery. First, disconnect the negative battery cable. Then, disconnect the positive battery cable. A positive power lead can cause sparks if the battery is not disconnected. Sparks can possibly result in battery explosion or fire. |

- Turn the battery disconnect switch to the "OFF" position.
- Remove nut (2). Disconnect cable assemblies (1) and (4) from electric starting motor (3) .

- Use two people to remove mounting bolts (5) and electric starting motor (3). The weight of electric starting motor (3) is approximately 37 kg (82 lb).

Installation Procedure
- Install electric starting motor (3) in the reverse order of removal.
- Tighten nut (2) to a torque of 36 ± 4 N·m (26 ± 3 lb ft).
