Removing the CRTdm

    Illustration 1g01354420

  1. Disconnect the CRTdm power, the CRTdm output, and the thermocouple pigtails from the MCI Orginal Equipment Manufacture (OEM) wiring harness (1) .

    Illustration 2g01354423

  1. Disconnect the copper tubing (2) from the CRTdm.

  1. Remove the 4 mounting screws that attach the CRTdm to the luggage bay bulkhead.

  1. Remove the CRTdm from the vehicle and return the CRTdm to Johnson Matthey 380 Lapp Rd. Malvern, PA 19355.

    Illustration 3g01354426

  1. Remove the OEM CRTdm wiring harness from the bundle of wires and pull back to where the copper tubing (2) comes through the conduit from the engine space (3) .

  1. Use a tube cutter to cut the copper tubing (2) that is referred to in Step 2. Cut the copper tubing in the area where it comes out of the conduit into the luggage comparment (3). Discard the copper tubing after the copper tubing has been cut. Refer to Area (3) in Illustration 3 for the proper location to cut the copper tubing.

Installing the New CRTdm in the New Location

    (4) The locations to drill the holes to mount the CRTdm.

    (5) Mounting brackets (03 - 59 - 2187) and (03 - 59 - 2188)

  1. Drill holes in the locations of callout (4) to mount the mounting brackets. Refer to the supplier drawing 08-20-1082 for the proper location to drill the mounting holes.

  1. Install the CRTdm 302-1563 Exhaust Monitor Gp as shown in MCI drawing 08-20-1082. Mount the 302-1563 Exhaust Monitor Gp using the supplier's mounting brackets 03-59-2187 and 03-59-2188.

    (6) The pressure transducer on the CRTdm

  1. Apply anti-seize compound or Teflon tape to the threads on the pressure transducer (6) on the CRTdm.

  1. Thread the new air brake fitting (Parker 66PMT - 4 - 4) onto the pressure transducer (6) on the CRTdm.

  1. Apply Teflon tape or anti-seize to the male end of the new compression fitting (Parker 68C - 4 - 2). Then thread the female end of the new NPT brass air brake fitting (170 - PMT - 4 - 2) into the compression fitting (Parker 68C - 4 - 2).

    Illustration 6g01373970

  1. Slide the other end of the new compression fitting (Parker 68C - 4 - 2) over the remaining copper tubing (2) in the luggage bay that was referred to in Step 2 of ""Removing the CRTdm" ". Orient the new NPT brass air brake fitting (170 - PMT - 4 - 2) so that the fitting is pointed towards the CRTdm. Tighten the compression fitting (Parker 68C - 4 - 2) lock nut one complete turn only. Do not over-tighten the lock nut.

  1. Press the new air brake hose (PFT - 4A - BLK) into the Presto-Lock fitting on the copper tubing (2). The Presto-Lock fitting is already attached to the copper tubing.

  1. Route the copper tubing (2) and the wiring harnesses through the fiberglass duct and back toward the CRTdm. Secure the copper tubing (2) to the harness with wire ties.

  1. Line up the copper tubing (2) with the air brake fitting (Parker 66PMT - 4 - 4) on the CRTdm. Trim the excess copper tubing off and plug the copper tubing into the air brake fitting (Parker 66PMT - 4 - 4) that was installed on the CRTdm in Step 4.

  1. Check to make sure the copper tubing is secure in both fittings by trying to pull the tubing out of the fitting. If the tubing does not pull out, it is secure.

  1. Install the jumper harness between the CRTdm and the OEM MCI wiring harness, if required.
