The following procedure lists information about downloading information from the Diesel Particulate Filter Monitory System.

  1. Connect the computer that is running the CAT ET to the CAT Communications Adapter in order to use the appropriate cable. Connect the CAT Communications Adapter to the connector for the service tool in order to use the appropriate cable.

    Note: The system monitor has a service tool connector and the system is usually located near the ECM for the system.

  1. Start CAT ET by double clicking on an icon on the PC. Select CAT ET from the "Programs" Menu. CAT ET will attempt to connect to the system monitor on the Cat Data Link (CDL). If all connections are correct, CAT ET should establish communications by indicating "1 ECM Detected".

  1. To establish communication between CAT Electronic Technician and the monitor, select the "Particulate Trap Trend Data" option from the "Information" drop-down menu.

  1. A dialog box that is called "Particulate Trap Trend Data" will appear. Click on the load from the box for the ECM.

  1. If a dialog box appears, the trend information will be removed from the ECM. Do not continue. Click "YES".

  1. A horizontal bar graph shows the process for loading the data. The process for loading the data is five minutes. The process for loading the data is up to 20 minutes.

  1. Once all data is received from the monitor, you will see a dialog box. The dialog box states that the data from the ECM was successfully loaded. Click "OK".

  1. Click "Export" in the lower right portion of the screen.

  1. A box for the file manager will appear. Select the path for the destination. Change the name of the file. Save the file in the format of text.

  1. A dialog box will appear. The dialog box says that the data was saved successfully. The process is now complete.
