Usage:
1160, 3160, 3208 Engines in All Applications
Not every crankshaft currently machined at the factory for 3208 Engines has lightening holes (holes to make the crankshaft lighter) in the second and third connecting rod journal from the front of the engine. Most crankshafts have lightening holes at these locations, but only when the lightening holes can be drilled to the normal depth. If the lightening holes can not be drilled to the normal depth, or if the lightening holes are not necessary for balance purposes, then they will not be drilled in the two center journals. This has no effect on the operation of the crankshaft in a new engine, a rebuilt engine or a remanufactured engine.
This design change will be seen on 3208 Engines, including the remanufactured engine; replacement crankshafts, remanufactured or reground crankshafts for the engines shown or for remanufactured 1160 and 3160 Engines.
