SIRS Component Code List{0331}

Usage:

The SIRS Component Code List is an addition to the Master Index in the Service Information Retrieval System (SIRS).

Use of the SIRS Component Code List makes it easier to find information on a specific component when you do not know the machine or engine model.

The SIRS Component Code List is part of the SIRS Master Index. It has 3 fiche and is to be kept with the SIRS Master Index fiche. On the Header (top of the fiche) is the information that follows:

1. The title: Component Code List.
2. The first component code number on that fiche.
3. The date of the fiche set.
4. The fiche number to use to keep the fiche in sequence.

The SIRS Component Code List is a complete index of all the articles and publications in the Master Index in component code number sequence. You now have two separate methods to use to find the issue date and the title of the publications.

1. The SIRS Master Index is in a specific arrangement according to product type, sales model and serial number. Under the specific model and serial number, all articles are shown in SMCS (Service Management Control System) code sequence.

2. The Component Code List is in SMCS component code number order only. For each specific SMCS component code a complete list of service publication articles on that component can be found. Under the SMCS code, the form numbers of the publications are shown in alpha-numeric sequence.

How To Use The Component Code List

Use the SIRS Component Code fiche to find information on a component when you do not know the model and serial number of the machine that used the part, or use it to find all the information on a specific component or subject.

NOTE: The SMCS Component codes used in the SIRS Master Index and component code list are shown in the Service Management Bulletins "Code Structure for the Service Management Control System", SEBF3005, and "Classification Codes for Service Literature", SEBF3017.
