AC Output Current - Calibrate

Usage:

AC Output Current calibration is done with a load on the system. Only maximum current on each output bus is calibrated.

Personal injury or death can result from high voltage.

When power generation equipment must be in operation to make tests and/or adjustments, high voltage and current are present.

Improper test equipment can fail and present a high voltage shock hazard to its user.

Use electrical safety gloves when you are working in the cabinets.

Make sure the testing equipment is designed for and correctly operated for high voltage and current tests being made.

Calibration Error Limits

Note: The system should be in Bypass mode.

  1. Connect a PC to the UPS.

    Refer to Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, RENR7654, "Personal Computer to UPS Connection".

  1. Place system in Bypass mode.

    Refer to Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, RENR7654, "Transfer to Bypass Mode".

    Note: Before proceeding, if this is a Paralleled MMU system, calibrate the MMU Currents from the Parallel Control cabinet (PCC).

  1. Select "AC Output Currents".

    Note: 4-Wire menu options only appear in 4-Wire systems.

  1. Select "Use Defaults".

  1. Place probe clamp on the K5 bus bar for Phase A.

    Note: Clamp should be rated at a 3000 amp maximum, 10 Hz to 100 kHz. The clamp should be set to 0.1 millivolts per amp.

    Probe Clamp Range and Output

  1. Take reading from the K5 bus bar for Phase A.

  1. Enter reading into "Calibration Point".

  1. Select "OK".

  1. Move the clamp to the K5 bus bar for Phase B.

  1. Take a reading.

  1. Enter the value for Phase B that is shown on multimeter in the "Enter Calibration Point" window.

  1. Select "OK".

  1. Move clamp to the K5 bus bar for Phase C.

  1. Take a reading.

  1. Enter the value for Phase C that is shown on multimeter in "Enter Calibration Point" window.

  1. Select "View Status".

The AC Output Current calibration is complete.
