Flywheel Load Cell - Calibrate

Usage:

ES12F CZE
This procedure should be done whenever the following boards are replaced:

  • An APC-1 board in the flywheel cabinet.

  • A Flywheel Interface board (FWI) in the flywheel cabinet.

The flywheel should be in shutdown mode. The bus may purge down while performing this calibration. Load cell calibration is done for both Flywheel A and Flywheel B.


NOTICE

The flywheels should be at zero (0) RPM when performing this calibration.


Perform the Flywheel A calibrations in the order that the calibrations appear on the Calibrate pull-down menu. Perform the following steps in order to calibrate the flywheel load cell.

  1. Place the keyswitch of the Flywheel cabinet in the "Spindown/Offline" position.

  1. Connect a PC to the UPS according to the instructions in Testing and Adjusting, "Personal Computer to UPS Connection".

  1. Place the system in the Bypass mode. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Transfer to Bypass Mode".

    Calibrate Load Cell

  1. Open the "Calibrate" drop-down menu in UPS View.

  1. Select "Load Cell" from the "Calibrate" drop-down menu.

    The window which is shown in illustration 2 appears.

    A: Load Cell - Minimum Bottom Bearing Force

  1. Click the "Use Defaults" button.

  1. Disconnect the wiring harness from "J4" of the interface board connector for Flywheel A.

    (1) MIN/MAX Jumper

  1. Plug the "MIN" jumper connector (3) into "J4" of the interface board connector for Flywheel A.

  1. Ensure that the "Minimum" button is highlighted in the "Calibration of a Channel" window.

    The value for the minimum setting should be close to zero (0).

  1. Click the "OK" button.

    A: Load Cell - Maximum Bottom Bearing Force

  1. Click the "Maximum" button.

  1. Change the jumper in J4 from the "MIN" jumper (3) to the "MAX" jumper (2).

    The load cell reading should be approximately 1333 lb.

  1. Click the "OK" button.

  1. Click the "View Status" button.

  1. Remove the jumper and reconnect the harness.

  1. Click the "Save" button.

  1. Repeat for Flywheel B.
