- The Key switch is turned to the ON position.
- The Shift Lever is placed in the NEUTRAL position.
- The Rear Engine Start button on the 16 Button Keypad in the cab is pressed and held.
Then, at the 8-Button Scraper Keypad:
Note: The Scraper engine should start cranking then.
This function is also enabled by performing the following steps:
- The Key switch is turned to the ON position.
- The Shift Lever is placed in the NEUTRAL position.
- The "Rear Engine Start" button on the 16 Button Keypad in the cab is pressed and released.
- The "Rear Engine Start" button on the 16 Button Keypad in the cab is pressed and released.
- Within the 5 seconds, at the8-Button Scraper Keypad, press and hold the Engine Start enable and Engine Start buttons together.
Note: After the third step on this procedure, for a five-second period: the Engine Start Enable and Engine Start buttons both will be flashing at the 8-Button Scraper Keypad.
In addition to the Neutral Start function, the Scraper Transmission ECM also performs the Start Prevent function. This function is enabled when System Voltage (+Battery) is greater than 36 VDC. The Scraper Transmission ECM internally monitors System Voltage (+Battery), which is present at the ECM contacts J1-31, J1-39, and J1-46. The Neutral Start function protects the starting and charging electrical circuit. When the engine is jump-started incorrectly, the Scraper Transmission ECM will not allow the engine to start. When this function is enabled, the Scraper Transmission ECM does not activate the start relay during the related Neutral Start function.
Note: The Scraper Transmission ECM will not allow the machine to start unless the engine speed is zero. The Scraper Transmission ECM will disengage the starter if the EOS is greater than 300. The Scraper Transmission ECM receives the information on the actual position of the shift lever. At that time, the Scraper Transmission ECM also receives information on the Actual Gear of the Tractor Transmission.
The conditions that are listed below must be present, in order to start the Scraper Engine:
- Tractor Gear Selector lever is in Neutral.
- Tractor Actual Gear switch is in Neutral.
- Tractor Transmission is in Neutral.
- Scraper Engine speed is 0 rpm.
- The key is in the Start position.
- System Voltage is less than 36 DCV.
