This diagnostic code is recorded when an electronic control module (ECM) has not been flashed with the correct configuration file.
System Response:
This failure results in events that are logged against the VIMSTM 3G Main ECM.
Test Step 1. VERIFY THE SOFTWARE PART NUMBERS
- Verify that the ECM software part numbers are correct.
Note: For correct part numbers, consult the product business unit.
Expected Result:
All software part numbers are correct.
Results:
- OK - All part numbers are correct. Proceed to Test Step 2.
- NOT OK - All part numbers are not correct.
Repair: Flash the correct configuration software. See Testing and Adjusting, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Flash Program".

Test Step 2. VERIFY DIAGNOSTIC CODE STATUS
- Cycle the disconnect switch and the keyswitch on and off several times.
- Turn on the disconnect switch and the keyswitch.
- Check the status of MID 161 - CID 0800 - FMI 11
Expected Result:
MID 161 - CID 0800 - FMI 11 is not active.
Results:
- OK - MID 161 - CID 0800 - FMI 11 is not active. STOP
- NOT OK - MID 161 - CID 0800 - FMI 11 is active. An ECM may have failed. However, ECM failure is unlikely.
Repair: Exit this procedure and perform this procedure again. Contact your Cat® dealer technical communicator.
