Improvements To the Rear Panel On 973D Track-Type Loaders {7251, 7256}

Description of Change: Improvements to the rear panel on the 973D Track-Type Loaders have been made. The bolt joints at the bottom of the rear panels have been changed to M16 bolt holes. The bolt hole location for the top bolt has been relocated to a less stressed location in order to allow the panel more robustness when the machine is used in high impact applications.
Adaptable To: The changes to the rear panel are effective with the following machines: 973D (S/N: LCP179-UP).
The changes to the rear panel are adaptable to the following machines by following the Steps in the rework procedure: 973D (S/N: LCP1-178).

- Remove the bolts at the bottom of the rear panel.

- Make new slots that are centered on the current holes. The new slots should be the following dimensions: 19.5 X 32 mm (0.77 X 1.26 inch).
- Relocate the existing bolt hole (5) at the top of the panel 200 mm (7.87 inch) lower.
- Drill and tap the bottom corresponding holes into the frame to M16 x 2 threads.
- Install the panel using the existing hardware for the top hole and three washers (1) and three bolts (4) .
- Repeat Steps 1 through 5 for the other side of the machine.
