There are two Inverter Contactors in the Controls Cabinet. The contactors are located on at the bottom of the cabinet behind the metal shield.

The K3 and K4 Inverter Contactors connect the inverters and filter inductors to the output while the UPS is online.

Removal

  1. Perform steps in the Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Internal Component Preremoval Steps (Controls Cabinet)" in order to de-energize the system and gain access to internal components.

  1. Disconnect the wire harness on each of the three fans.

  1. Remove the fan tray to the right of the upper two fans.

    Refer to Illustration 2.

  1. Remove the left fan tray assembly.

  1. Remove the front plenum gusset.

    Refer to Illustration 2.

  1. Remove the left and right fan plenums to gain access to the K3 and K4 contactors.

  1. Disconnect the two wires that connect to the front status terminal of the contactor.

  1. Disconnect the two control wires from the left side of the contactor.

  1. Remove the Phase A output bus bar by removing the allen head bolt and insulating connector bolt from the right side of the contactor.

    Refer to Illustration 3.

  1. Move the bus bar and connected cables out of the way.

  1. Repeat Step 9 for the Phase B and Phase C bus bars.

    Note: If the cables on the output bus duct are in the way, remove the cables first in order to gain access to the allen head bolts.

  1. Disconnect the input bus bars from the contactor. Remove the three allen head bolts that connect each input bus bar to the contactor.

    Refer to Illustration 4.

  1. Remove the four bolts that attach the contactor to the frame.

    Refer to Illustration 5.

  1. Slide the contactor to the right in order to disengage the input bus duct.

  1. Remove the contactor from the cabinet.

Removal

  1. Place contactor in cabinet to the right of the input bus bars.

  1. Slide the contactor to the left to engage the input bus bars to the contactor inputs.

  1. Attach the contactor to cabinet with four bolts.

    Refer to Illustration 5.

  1. Connect the input bus bars to the contactor inputs with three allen head bolts.

    Refer to Illustration 4.

  1. Attach the Phase C output bus bar by attaching the allen head bolt and insulating connector bolt to the right side of the contactor.

    Refer to Illustration 3.

  1. Repeat Step 5 for the Phase B and Phase A output bus bars.

  1. Attach the two control wires to the left side of the contactor.

    Refer to Illustration 6.

  1. Attach the two wires that connect to the front status terminal of the contactor.

    Refer to Illustration 7.

  1. Attach any extra cables that were removed to make assist contactor removal.

  1. Attach the left and right fan plenums.

  1. Attach the front plenum gusset.

    Refer to Illustration 2.

  1. Attach the left fan tray assembly.

  1. Attach the fan tray to the right of the upper two fans.

    Refer to Illustration 2.

  1. Attach the wire harness on each of the three fans.
