Reports from dealers indicate that the bolt hole of the turbine housing on the above listed engines that is closest to the inlet flange of the turbine housing can break through the inside of the turbine housing. This situation can occur in new housings and remanufactured housings.
The hole is a result of the threaded hole that is too deep. Refer to Illustration 1. Since the threaded hole is sealed with a bolt and anti-seize compound, neither the performance nor reliability of the turbocharger is affected. Since neither the performance nor reliability of the turbocharger is affected, this is not a valid warranty claim.
