Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the front housing. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Housing (Front) - Remove".

1. Note the position of the timing marks on the idler gear for assembly purposes. Remove bolts (1). Remove retaining plate (2).

2. Remove idler gear (3).

3. Remove bolt (4). Remove shaft (5) and thrust plate (6).

Installation Procedure

1. Install thrust plate (6) and shaft (5). Install bolt (4).

2. Align the timing marks on idler gear (3) with the mark on the crankshaft gear. Install idler gear (3).

3. Install retaining plate (2). Install bolts (1). Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 70 ± 15 N·m (52 ± 11 lb ft).

End By:

1. Install the front housing. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Housing (Front) - Install".
