Housing (Front) - Remove

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the fuel filter base. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Filter Base - Remove and Install".

  2. Remove the camshaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Camshaft - Remove".

  3. Remove the fuel injection pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Injection Pump - Remove".

  4. Remove the vibration damper and the pulley. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Vibration Damper and Pulley - Remove and Install".


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Remove bolts (1) and bolts (2). Remove bolts (3) that connect the front of the oil pan to the front housing.

  2. Remove front housing (4).
