613G Wheel Tractor-Scraper Power Train Caterpillar

Torque Converter Inlet Oil Pressure - Test

Usage:

613G DBE

------ WARNING! ------

When testing and adjusting the transmission and power train, move the machine to an area clear of obstructions, with safe exhaust ventilation for the exhausts. Sudden movement of the machine or release of oil under pressure can cause injury to persons on or near the machine. To prevent possible injury, do the procedure that follows before testing and adjusting the transmission and power train.

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

ReferenceBefore you begin the test, refer to Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Machine Preparation for Troubleshooting".

Introduction

  1. Operate the machine until the transmission oil is at an operating temperature of 65° - 110° C (149° - 230° F)

  1. Stop the machine on a hard level surface. Move the transmission control lever to the NEUTRAL position. Lower the bowl. Turn the engine to the OFF position.

  1. Remove dust cap (1) .

  1. Attach Tool (B2) onto the pressure tap.

Test Procedure

  1. Engage the parking brakes. Start the engine and run the engine at HIGH IDLE in NEUTRAL. The pressure on the gauge must be 930 kPa (135 psi) maximum.

  1. Stop the engine. Remove the test equipment.

If the oil pressure is too low, there is a leak in the system.
