Description of Change: A new U-cup seal is used in the servo steering cylinder. The new U-cup seal has a smaller inner diameter than the former seal. When the new U-cup seal is under oil pressure, the new U-cup seal will apply more pressure to the rod.

The new 330-7286 U-Cup Seal (2) is a direct replacement for the former 6J-1878 Seal in the 9T-6685 Servo Steering Cylinder. The new U-cup seal is adaptable back to the beginning of production of the machines. The new U-cup seal became effective in production with the following machines: DBB642-UP, DBC504-UP, DBD895-UP, DFA365-UP, DFJ392-UP, W1B135-UP, W1C274-UP and A4G101-UP
Note: One U-cup seal is installed in both ends of the 9T-6685 Servo Steering Cylinder. The orientation of the U-cup seal in the cylinder is important. The groove (1) should always be installed toward the oil pressure or toward the piston. The oil pressure in the cylinder causes the U-cup seal to squeeze the rod.For the complete instructions that are needed in order to install the new U-cup seals, refer to Special Instruction, REHS4228, "Installation of the New U-cup Seals on the Servo Steering Cylinder".
