Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the clean gas induction valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Clean Gas Induction Valve - Remove".

Sulfuric Acid Burn Hazard, may cause serious personal injury.

The turbocharger may contain a small amount of sulfuric acid. The use of fuel with sulfur levels greater than 15 ppm may increase the amount of sulfuric acid formed. The sulfuric acid may spill from the CGI cooler during service of the engine and may travel to other downstream components. The sulfuric acid will burn the eyes, skin, and clothing on contact. Always wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) that is noted on a material safety data sheet (MSDS) for sulfuric acid. Always follow the directions for first aid that are noted on a material safety data sheet (MSDS) for sulfuric acid.

  1. Loosen hose clamps (1) and (3). Disconnect hose (2). Disconnect hose assembly (4) and tube assembly (5).

  2. Remove clamp (6). Disconnect harness assembly (7).

  3. Remove cable straps (9). Disconnect harness assembly (10). Remove bolts (8). Remove bolts (11). Remove tube assembly (12). Remove the gasket and the O-ring seal from tube assembly (12).

  4. Remove nuts (13). Remove turbocharger (14) and the gasket from the engine. The weight of turbocharger (14) is approximately 23 kg (50 lb).
