Problem
Some 10R-4343 Piston and Rod Gp were found with the incorrect 10R-5636 Piston This may result in white smoke after engine start-up.
Solution
Inspect all 10R-4343 Piston and Rod Gp in parts stock with a date code label 1January 2007 through 20February 2008 for the correct piston.
The 10R-4343 Piston and Rod Gp for 3500B Engines should be equipped with a 10R-5635 Piston or 278-0247 Piston . The part number of the piston is located on the piston's strut.

The date code of the cylinder pack is also located on the tag for the part number that is on the outside of the box. The date code appears as a DDMMYY code. For example, D021M02Y08 equals 21February 2008.
If the engine exhibits white smoke after the engine is rebuilt with 10R-4343 Piston and Rod Gp , have your technical communicator contact the Dealer Solution Network (DSN) as soon as possible for corrective action.
