Drive Shaft (Upper) - Remove and Install

Usage:

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".

  1. Remove the two bolts and guard (2). Remove four bolts (3) and guard (1).

  2. Remove the two bolts and guard (6). Remove four bolts (5) and guard (4).

  3. Attach a suitable lifting device to upper drive shaft (8). The weight of upper drive shaft (8) is approximately 24 kg (53 lb).

  4. Remove eight bolts (7).

  5. Remove upper drive shaft (8).

  1. Attach a suitable lifting device to upper drive shaft (8). The weight of upper drive shaft (8) is approximately 24 kg (53 lb).

  2. Apply Tooling (A) and then apply Tooling (B) to the threads of bolts (7).

  3. Install upper drive shaft (8).

  4. Install eight bolts (7). Tighten eight bolts (7) to a torque of 135 ± 6.5 N·m (100 ± 5 lb ft).

  5. Lubricate the upper drive shaft. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Drive Shaft Universal Joints, Splines, and Bearings - Inspect/Lubricate".

  6. Install guard (4) and four bolts (5). Install guard (6) and the two bolts.

  7. Install guard (1) and four bolts (3). Install guard (2) and the two bolts.

End By:

  1. Separate the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
