Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Release the hydraulic system pressure.

  2. Connect the steering frame lock.

------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.

Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.

Make sure all of the work tools have been lowered to the ground, and the oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, all hoses, and all tubes. This action helps to prevent fluid loss and this action helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.

  1. Unlock cover (1) to open cover (1).

  2. Remove bolts (2) from cover (1). Repeat for the other side. Remove cover (1).

  3. Remove bolts (3). Remove cover (4). Remove rubber grommet (5).

  4. Remove hoses (6) and (7). Remove nuts (8).

  5. Remove clip (9). Remove pin (10). Remove service brake control (11).

Installation Procedure

  1. Apply Tooling (A) to sealing face of brake control (11). Position service brake control (11). Install pin (10). Install clip (9).

  2. Install nuts (8). Install hoses (6) and (7).

  3. Position cover (4). Install bolts (3). Install rubber grommet (5).

  4. Position cover (1). Install bolt (2). Repeat for the other side.

  5. Close cover (1). Lock cover (1).

End By:

  1. Disconnect the steering frame lock.
