Introduction

The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

The old cut out software only performs the test in shot selection mode 1. Some failed injectors will only show problems in shot selection mode 2. The existing cut out software is not capable of identifying problems with injectors that only occur in shot selection mode 2.

Solution C7 Engines

New cut out software is available on SIS. The new software is used for performance related complaints or misfire.

The diagnostic software is combined with the new engine software. If the first cut out test does not identify a problem, reflash the engine with the appropriate flash file from table 1. The diagnostic software and the new engine software are one file. No further input is required while you perform the automatic cut out test and the manual cut out test. There is no need to reflash the C7 engines back to the old file after the test is complete.

Solution C9 Engines

The diagnostic software is combined with the new engine software. The diagnostic software and the new engine software are one file. If an engine has a performance complaint that appears to be an issue with the injectors, reflash the engine with the appropriate flash file from table 2. No further input is required while you perform the automatic cut out test and the manual cut out test. There is no need to reflash the C9 engines back to the old file after the test is complete.
