Additional Zinc Rods Improve Service Life Of Sea Water Heat Exchanger{1379}
Usage:
3208 Marine Engines ( 1Z4927-Up, 75V8760-Up)
Two 6L2283 Zinc Rods and two 6L2282 Plugs have been added to the 1W1051 and 4W9164 (Sea Water) Heat Exchanger Groups available for use on the 3208 Marine Engines shown above. The two rods and plugs, installed in the 8N9787 Bonnet Assembly (L.H.), will provide improved protection against corrosion in the sea water circuit of the heat exchanger.
NOTE: The zinc plugs should be inspected or replaced as needed every 75 SMU or two weeks, whichever occurs first.
In addition, the plug openings can be used to check temperatures and pressures in the engine cooling system during sea trials and when troubleshooting the engine.
