All Caterpillar Products With Electric Hour Meters
Tests of electric hour meters, that have been returned for warranty, show that 60 per cent of them have no defects. Electric hour meters need to be turned on (have battery voltage applied to the hour meter) when the engine is running. Most often, relays and pressure switches are used to turn the hour meter on.
Before replacing an electric hour meter, be sure to check the wiring harness, pressure switch and/or relay to be sure they are in good condition and working correctly.
