Installation Procedure

When the connecting rod caps are installed, ensure that the identification marks are aligned. |
Note: Check the clearance between the connecting rod bearing and the connecting rod bearing journal of the crankshaft. Install the connecting rod bearings dry when the clearance checks are made.
- Clean the bearing surface of connecting rod (5) and connecting rod cap (8). Ensure that Identification Mark (X) on connecting rod cap (8) matches Identification Mark (X) on connecting rod (5) .

- Install the upper half of connecting rod bearing (7) in connecting rod (5). Lubricate the bearing face with clean engine oil.
Note: Align the tabs on the back of connecting rod bearing (7) with the tab grooves in connecting rod (5) .
- Pull connecting rod (5) into position against the crankshaft.
- Install the lower half of connecting rod bearing (7) in connecting rod cap (8). Lubricate the bearing face with clean engine oil.
- Install connecting rod cap (8). Install connecting rod nuts (9) on connecting rod bolts (6). Tighten the connecting rod nuts to a torque of 52 N·m (38 lb ft).
Note: Ensure that Identification Mark (X) on the connecting rod matches Identification Mark (X) on the connecting rod cap. The Identification Marks must face the right side of the engine for correct installation.
- Repeat Steps 1 through 5 for the installation of the remaining connecting rod bearings.
- Install O-ring seal (1) on tube assembly (2) .

- Install tube assembly (2) in the cylinder block.
- Install oil strainer (4) on the cylinder block and tighten bolts (3) to a torque of 11 N·m (97 lb in).
End By: Install the engine oil pan. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Pan - Remove and Install".
