Valve Mechanism Cover - Remove and Install

Usage:

C1.5 NCA

Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


Note: The removal procedure is similar for the three cylinder and the four cylinder engines. The illustrations show the four cylinder engine.

Note: The inlet manifold is part of the valve mechanism cover.

  1. Remove bolts (2) from connector (3) . Remove the connector from valve mechanism cover (6) . Remove gasket (4) .

  1. Remove bolts (1) and nuts (5) .

  1. Remove valve mechanism cover (6) from housing (7) for the rocker shaft assembly. Remove valve cover seal (8) from valve mechanism cover (6) . Inspect the valve cover seal. If the valve cover seal is worn or damaged, use a new part for replacement.

  1. Clean all surfaces thoroughly.

  1. Apply Tooling (A) to the valve cover seal. Install valve cover seal (8) on valve mechanism cover (6) .

  1. Install valve mechanism cover (6) on housing (7) for the rocker shaft assembly.

  1. Install bolts (1) and nuts (5) . Tighten the bolts and the nuts to a torque of 14 N·m (10 lb ft).

  1. Install a new gasket (4) on valve mechanism cover (6) . Install connector (3) and bolts (2) . Tighten the bolts to a torque of 14 N·m (10 lb ft).
