For a multiple camera system, WAVS has two modes of operation which are manual mode and automatic mode. Automatic mode is the preferred mode of operation. In the automatic mode, the display will provide a view from the camera that is defined by the configuration of the system during installation.

Selection of Automatic Camera

In automatic mode, the view that will be shown on the display is determined by the following criteria:

  • The type of machine

  • The operator of the machine

WAVS can be configured to respond to different types of automatic input or operator input.

Note: For example, WAVS is configured to display the view from the rearward looking camera if an operator has selected reverse. When the operator has selected reverse, the view from the rearward looking camera will appear on the display.

Machines such as the Off Highway Truck (OHT) may have a camera that is mounted on the right-hand side of the machine. Inorder to view the right-hand side camera on the display, the operator would manually press a momentary ON push button or a rocker switch. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Modes of Operation". The illustration for the alternate camera switch shows an example of a type of rocker switch that has been installed.

Note: The orientation for the image from the camera is set during installation. The rear camera image is set to provide a reversed image which is similar to a mirror view. Do not set the views of the right side camera and the front camera to a reversed image. If the orientation camera image is not correct, contact Caterpillar service personnel immediately.
