Start By:

  1. Remove the auxiliary water pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Auxiliary Water Pump - Remove".


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Remove bolts (10), washers (9), and cover (8) from housing (1).

  2. Remove O-ring seal (7), from housing (1).

  3. Use Tooling (F) to remove impellar (6).

  4. Remove plate (5) from housing (1).

  5. Use Tooling (A) to remove retaining ring (4). Remove seal assembly (3) from housing (1).

  6. Remove bolts (2) and the washers. Remove housing (1).

  7. Remove the ceramic part of seal assembly (3) when the shaft assembly is removed from the housing. Use Tooling (E) and a suitable press to remove the seal from housing (1).

  8. Remove bolt (11), washer (12), and washer (13).

  9. Use Tooling (B) to remove gear (14) from the shaft assembly.

  10. Use Tooling (C) to remove retaining ring (18). Remove ring (19) and shield (17) from shaft assembly. Remove the shaft assembly from body (16) and seal (15).

  11. Use Tooling (D) and a suitable press to remove bearing (20) from shaft (23).

  12. Use Tooling (A) to remove retaining ring (21).

  13. Remove spacer (22).

  14. Use Tooling (D) and a suitable press to remove bearing (24) from shaft (23).

  15. Use Tooling (E) and a suitable press to remove seal (15) from body (16).
