Assembly Procedure

1. Use Tooling (E) and a suitable press to install seal (15) in body (16).

2. Use Tooling (C) to install retaining ring (21) on shaft (23).

3. Use a suitable press to install bearing (20) on shaft (23).

4. Install spacer (22).

5. Use a suitable press to install bearing (24) on shaft (23).

6. Apply clean engine oil to bearing (20) and bearing (24). Install the shaft assembly in body (16) and seal (15).

7. Install ring (19) and shield (17). Use Tooling (A) to install retaining ring (18).

8. Position gear (14) on the shaft assembly. Install bolt (11), washer (12), and washer (13).
   Show/hide table

   NOTICE
   Clean water only is permitted for use as a lubricant for assistance at installation. Do not damage or put hands on the wear surface of the carbon ring or the ceramic ring. Install the ceramic ring with the smoothest face of the ring toward the carbon seal assembly.

9. Use Tooling (F) to install the ceramic part of seal assembly (3) in housing (1).

10. Observe the location of alignment pin (25) in the housing (1).

11. Install seal assembly (3).

12. Use Tooling (A) to install retaining ring (4).

13. Align Location (X) on plate (5) with the alignment pin in housing (1). Install plate (5) and impeller (6) in housing (1).

14. Install O-ring seal (7), bolts (10), washers (9), and cover (8) in housing (1).

End By:

1. Install the auxiliary water pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Auxiliary Water Pump - Install".
