A proportional pressure solenoid valve is used at each individual wheel brake in order to apply pressure to a particular brake when the solenoid valve is supplied with hydraulic pressure and the solenoid is supplied with an electronic signal. The solenoid valve allows the wheel brake to be applied with a force that is proportional to the amount of current that is supplied to the solenoid. Coil (2) must be removed from the solenoid valve before cartridge assembly (1) is serviced.
