Air Compressor Maintenance Procedures
The CAT 270 air compressor requires no specific periodic maintenance for the warranty period beyond ensuring a clean unrestricted inlet air supply and clean engine oil.
The filter in the air intake should be cleaned or replaced when the filter causes a restriction that exceeds 508 mm (20 inch) of water.
If the air compressor fails to maintain adequate air pressure, the governor and the unloader components should be inspected. The pressure range for the cut-in and the cut-out is 103.4 kPa (15 psi) to 206.8 kPa (30 psi).
Components for the unloader are serviced after removing the cover plate for the unloader that is on top of the head assembly. An unloader repair kit is available for repairing the unloader.
