Ride Control Accumulator - Disassemble

Usage:

988G 2TW

Disassembly Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the ride control accumulator. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Ride Control Accumulator - Remove".

------ WARNING! ------

The accumulator is filled with dry nitrogen. Sudden release of nitrogen pressure can cause personal injury.

To avoid personal injury, release the nitrogen pressure from the accumulator before disassembly.

  1. Release the pressure from the ride control accumulator. Refer to Special Instruction, REHS5464, "Accumulator Charging and Discharging Procedures" for the correct procedure to release the nitrogen from the ride control accumulator.

  1. Remove elbow assembly (2) from the accumulator (1) . Remove the O-ring seal from the elbow assembly.

  1. Remove valve assembly (3) .

    Note: Always remove cap (4) at the gas end before removing cap (10) at the hydraulic end.

  1. Install suitable pins or bolts in end cap (4) . Remove end cap (4) by using a long bar to work against the pins. Remove O-ring seal (5) and the backup ring from the end cap.

  1. Install suitable pins or bolts in end cap (10) . Remove end cap (10) by using a long bar to work against the pins. Remove O-ring seal (9) and the backup ring from the end cap.

    Note: Do not remove the piston by applying compressed air.

  1. Remove piston (11) from the brake accumulator by pushing the piston from the hydraulic end with a suitable bar.

  1. Remove V-ring seal (7) and the backup rings from piston (11) . Remove two teflon piston rings (6) and (8) .
