Gear Pump (Power Train) - Disassemble

Disassembly Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the gear pump for the power train. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Gear Pump (Power Train) - Remove".

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal components.

  1. Remove locknut (1) and the hard washer.

  1. Install Tooling (A) in order to remove oil pump drive gear (2). Remove oil pump drive gear (2) and the woodruff key.

  1. Remove six bolts (3) and the washers.

  1. Install Tooling (B), as shown.

    Note: Tooling (B) must be modified in order to be used as a guide bolt. Position Tooling (B) in a suitable vise. Remove the head of the bolt in order to use Tooling (B) as a guide bolt.

  1. Remove pump cover assembly (4) and the O-ring seal.

  1. Remove oil pump body assembly (5), the O-ring seal, and the four dowels.

  1. Inspect two bearings (6) for wear or damage.

    Note: If two bearings (6) need to be replaced, score the bearings with a small saw. Be careful not to cut into the bore of pump cover assembly (4). Remove the bearings from pump cover assembly (4). Be careful not to damage or change the dimension of the bore.

  1. Remove pump manifold assembly (7) and the O-ring seal from oil pump body assembly (8) .

  1. Inspect two bearings (9) for wear or damage.

    Note: If two bearings (9) need to be replaced, score the bearings with a small saw. Be careful not to cut into the bore of pump manifold assembly (7). Remove the bearings from pump manifold assembly (7). Be careful not to damage or change the dimension of the bore.

  1. Remove oil pump gear (11) and the woodruff key from oil pump body assembly (8) .

  1. Remove oil pump gear (12) from oil pump body assembly (8) .

  1. Remove two dowels (10) from oil pump body assembly (8) .

  1. Remove oil pump gear (13) from oil pump body assembly (8) .

  1. Remove oil pump gear (14) from oil pump body assembly (8) .

  1. Inspect two bearings (15) for wear or damage.

    Note: If two bearings (15) need to be replaced, score the bearings with a small saw. Be careful not to cut into the bore of oil pump body assembly (8). Remove the bearings from oil pump body assembly (8). Be careful not to damage or change the dimension of the bore.
