Start By:

  1. Remove the piston pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Piston Pump (Implement, Pilot, Steering, Brake) - Remove" for the machine that is being serviced.

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

  1. Remove two bolts (2) and gear pump (3) from piston pump (1).

    Note: For machines without a winch, a cover must be removed instead.

  2. Remove O-ring seal (4). If the machine is equipped with a winch, also remove coupling (5).

  3. Remove pressure tap (6).

  4. Remove four bolts (8) and compensator valve (7).

  5. Remove plug (9) and valve (10) from compensator valve (7).

  6. Remove O-ring seals (11) and (12).

  7. Turn over the compensator valve. Remove three seals (13).

  8. Remove plug (15), spring guide (17), spring (18), spring guide (19), and spool (20) from the compensator valve.

  9. Remove locknut (14), the setscrew, and O-ring seal (16) from plug (15).

  10. Remove plug (22), spring guide (24), tube (25), spring (26), spring guide (27), and spool (28) from the compensator valve.

  11. Remove locknut (21), the setscrew, and O-ring seal (23) from plug (22).

  12. Remove two plugs (30) from the compensator valve. Remove O-ring seals (29) from the plugs.

  13. Place the piston pump on wood blocks, as shown.

  14. Remove four bolts (32) and two bolts (31). Remove pump head (33).

  15. Remove plate (34) from pump head (33).

  16. Remove rods (35) and bearing race (36) from pump head (33).

  17. Remove the gasket from pump housing (37).

  18. Remove the springs from pistons (39). Remove pistons (39) from pump housing (37).

  19. Use Tooling (A) to remove bearing (38).

  20. Remove barrel (40) from the pump housing.

  21. Place barrel (40) in a suitable press, as shown. Remove snap ring (41).

  22. Remove retainer (44), spring (43), and retainer (42) from barrel (40).

  23. Remove four screws (45). Remove the limiter plate, the spacer plate, the retainer plate, and pistons (46) as a unit.

  24. Remove shaft (47) and plug (48) from the pump housing.

  25. Remove three bolts (49) and cover (50).

  26. Remove O-ring seal (51) from cover (50). Remove O-ring seal (52) from plug (48).

  27. Remove swashplate (53) from the pump housing.

  28. Remove two screws (54) and the races from the pump housing.

  29. Remove bearing (55).

  30. Remove bearing race (56).

  31. Turn over the pump housing. Remove snap ring (60) and seal (59).

  32. Remove O-ring seals (57) and (58).
