Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. The oil drain for the tractor engine is located on the engine oil pan. A guard covers the oil pan.
The oil filter for the tractor is on the right side of the engine.
Note: Drain the crankcase while the oil is warm. This allows waste particles that are suspended in the oil to drain. As the oil cools, the waste particles will settle to the bottom of the crankcase. The particles will not be removed by draining the oil and the particles will recirculate in the engine lubrication system with the new oil.
- Park the machine on a level surface and engage the parking brake. Stop the engine.

- Close crankcase drain valve (2).
- Remove oil filter (3) with a strap type wrench. Discard the used oil filter properly.
- Clean the filter housing base. Make sure that all of the old filter gasket is removed.
- Apply a thin coat of engine oil to the gasket of the new filter.
- Install the new filter by hand. When the gasket contacts the filter base, turn the filter by 270 degrees more. This will tighten the filter sufficiently.
- Every new oil filter has marks which are for determining the rotation index. These marks are spaced at 90 degree increments. Use the rotation index marks as a guide for tightening the oil filter.

- Start the engine and allow the oil to warm. Check the engine for leaks. Check the filter for leaks.
- See Operation and Maintenance Manual , "Engine Oil Level - Check" in order to check the engine oil level.
