7211 And 7221 Marine Transmissions
Reference: Service Magazine, October 4, 1982. The article "Improvements Made To Marine Transmissions" tells about the improvements made to the output shaft, rear cover and front cover on the 7211 and 7221 Marine Transmissions. One of these improvements was the use of new 3T5003 and 3T5005 Front Covers. These front covers have an oil hole in them that gives increased oil flow to the front bearings.
NOTE: Earlier 3T5003 and 3T5005 Front Covers have only one oil hole. Later front covers now have two holes.
Modifications can be made to the former 5N1830 and 3N8755 Front Covers and to the earlier 3T5003 and 3T5005 Front Covers. See the illustration that follows for the location of the 8.0 mm (.31") diameter holes that can be added to these front covers to increase the oil flow to the front bearings.
