Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |

The drain plug (1) for the transmission is located under the tractor.
Operate the machine until the transmission oil is warm. Park the machine on a level surface. Lower the bowl.
Engage the parking brake. Stop the engine.
- Clean the area around the drain plug (1).
- Remove the transmission drain plug and drain the oil into a suitable container.
- Clean the transmission drain plug and install the transmission drain plug.

Illustration 2 g00520487 - Clean the area around the filler cap (2). Remove the filler cap (2). Fill the transmission with oil through the filler tube (3). Fill the transmission to the "FULL" mark on the dipstick (4). Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)" and the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities".
- Clean the oil filler cap (2). Install the oil filler cap (2).
- Start the engine. Run the engine at low idle. Inspect the transmission for leaks.
- Slowly operate the transmission control in order to circulate the oil.
- Maintain the oil level between the "FULL" and "ADD OIL" marks on the dipstick (4). Add oil through the filler tube (3), if necessary.
- Stop the engine.
