Installation Procedure

Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life. |
- Install the upper half of connecting rod bearing into the connecting rod. Ensure that the bearing tab engages with the slot in the connecting rod.
- Apply clean engine oil on the surface of the upper half of connecting rod bearing.
- Position the connecting rod and the connecting rod bearing on the crankshaft.
- Install the lower half of the connecting rod bearing (2) in connecting rod cap (1). Ensure that the bearing tab engages with the groove in connecting rod cap (1) .

- Apply clean engine oil on the surface of the lower half of the connecting rod bearing (2) .
- Install connecting rod cap (1) on the corresponding connecting rod. Ensure that the numbers are on the same side.
- Install the connecting rod cap bolts. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 130 ± 7 N·m (95 ± 5 lb ft).
- Place an index mark on each bolt head. Tighten each bolt for an additional 60 ± 5 degrees (1/6 turn).
- Install the suction bell assembly.
End By: Install the engine oil pan. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Pan - Remove and Install".
