Pistons and Connecting Rods - Remove

Usage:

C12 C1Z

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the cylinder head. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Cylinder Head - Remove".
  2. Remove the piston cooling jets. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Piston Cooling Jets - Remove and Install".


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

  1. Place an identification mark on the connecting rod and connecting rod cap (1). The number should match the cylinder number. The bearing retainer notch should be on the right side.

  1. Remove connecting rod cap (1). Remove the lower half of bearing (2) .

  1. Push the piston and connecting rod away from the crankshaft. Remove the upper half of the connecting rod bearing.

  1. Remove the piston and connecting rod from the cylinder block.
