Note: Measure backlash on three equally spaced teeth.

(7) Inside diameter of the planetary gears ... 51.948 ± 0.010 mm (2.045 ± 0.0004 inch)

(8) Diameter of the planetary shafts ... 42.395 ± 0.006 mm (1.67 ± 0.0002 inch)

(9) Inside diameter of the planetary gears ... 58.298 ± 0.010 mm (2.29 ± 0.0004 inch)

(10) Diameter of the planetary shafts ... 42.395 ± 0.008 mm (1.67 ± 0.0003 inch)

(12) Thickness of four friction discs and three brake plates for the right brake ... 28.50 ± 0.95 mm (1.12 ± 0.04 inch)

Thickness of one 6Y-9373 Disc ... 4.70 ± 0.18 mm (0.185 ± 0.007 inch)

(14) Apply 5P-3413 Pipe Sealant to the flanges which contact the carriers.

(15) Inside diameter of the planetary gears ... 51.948 ± 0.010 mm (2.05 ± 0.0004 inch)

(16) Diameter of the planetary shafts ... 42.395 ± 0.008 mm (1.67 ± 0.0003 inch)

(17) Torque for three bolts ... 50 ± 10 N·m (37 ± 7 lb ft)

Procedure to Adjust the Pinion Bearings

  1. Gradually tighten nut (10) and check the torque. The torque is measured by rotating the pinion within the bearings. The torque should be 0.3 to 1.35 N·m (2.66 to 12.0 lb in).

  1. Bend the tab on the lockwasher into the slot on the nut.

Procedure to Adjust the Carrier Bearings

  1. Gradually tighten three equally spaced bolts (2) and check the torque. The torque is measured by rotating the carrier within the bearings. The torque should be 2.25 to 4.0 N·m (20 to 35 lb in).

  1. Measure the gap between plate (3) and carrier housing (18). Select a shim pack (4) of equal thickness to the measurement.

  1. Remove bolts (2) and install shim pack (4) .

  1. Install bolts (2) and tighten the bolts.

  1. Measure the torque and adjust the torque again in Step 1.
