Hold (1) - The wire rope should not move. Use this position when you tow the machine. Use this position when you are holding a load and when the winch is not active.

Reel In (2) - Pull the lever to this position in order to reel in the wire rope. The wire rope should move toward the winch under power. Release the lever. The lever returns to the HOLD position.

Brake Off (3) - Pull the lever to this position in order to release the winch. Release the lever. The lever will return to the HOLD position. The wire rope unreels by the weight of the load. If the load is sufficiently heavy, the wire rope will unreel. The wire rope will unreel as the machine moves away from the load.

Brake Off-Release Detent (4) - The lever remains in the detent position until the lever is moved manually. You can not unreel the wire rope by hand.

Reel-Out (5) - Pull the lever to this position in order to reel out the wire rope. The wire rope reels out under power. Release the lever. The lever will return to the BRAKE ON position.

Inching (Fine Control Operation)

The winch control valve is inside the winch case. The winch control valve can be adjusted in order to suit the needs of the operator. A two-position sequence valve is contained within the winch control valve group. This valve provides the no inch position for general control and for fine line control. Only use the inching position when you need fine control of the operation.

The load may slip when the winch is operated in the no inch position. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Winch Adjustments" .

All winches are set at the no inch position when the machine is shipped from the factory.
