SUBJECT: CHECK FOR PROPER TORQUE ON THE ELECTRIC STARTER MOTOR NUTS
PROBLEM:
The electric starter motor may have reduced life, if the battery cable and the starter terminal wire assembly do not have good contact with the electric starter motor.
SOLUTION:
Use the following procedure to improve life of the electric starter motor.
- Tighten nut (1) to a torque of 30.5 ± 3.5 N.m (22.50 ± 2.60 lb ft) in order to secure the battery cable.
2) Tighten nut (3) to a torque of 2.25 ± 0.25 N.m (1.66 ± 0.20 lb ft) in order to secure the starter terminal wire assembly.
3) Position the battery cable along the ladder clip and use the tie wrap (2) to secure the battery cable to the ladder clip.
