NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

------ WARNING! ------

Do not disconnect the air lines until the air pressure in the system is at zero. If hose is disconnected under pressure it can cause personal injury.

  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".

  2. Loosen the purge valves, and release the air pressure in the air tank.

  4. Attach a suitable lifting device to air compressor (3). The weight of air compressor (3) is approximately 24 kg (53 lb). Position the air compressor and install nuts (4).

  5. Connect coolant tube assembly (1) to the air compressor.

  6. Connect air hose assembly (2) to the air compressor.

    NOTICE

To prevent water from collecting and freezing in the air compressor lines, ensure that the air compressor lines are sloping downward and away from the air compressor.

  7. Connect oil tube assembly (5) to the air compressor.

  8. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".
