New Poppet Valve Will Decrease Chatter{3313}

Usage:

7261 And 7271 Marine Transmission

Description of Change: A new poppet valve is used in the control valve group on 7261 and 7271 Marine Transmissions. The new poppet valve has a smaller orifice. This will decrease the chatter (vibration) of the poppet valve during shifts of the transmission.

The former poppet valve had a larger orifice which permitted the valve to chatter.

Adaptable To: The new 9M4313 Poppet Valve is a direct replacement for the former 5M9554 Poppet Valve on these marine transmissions.

Identification of the poppet valve can be made by the orifice size and the shape of the valve. Be sure to measure the orifice size.

... The new 9M4313 Poppet Valve has a .61 mm (.024") orifice and has a hexagonal shape on the outside diameter.

... The former 5M9554 Poppet Valve has an .81 mm (.032") orifice and the outside diameter is round.
